At the end of 17th century, a woman named Jang Gye-Hyang compiled a recipe book filled with dishes preferred by nobles and how-tos on storing and fermenting food. The text, called Eumsik Dimibang, is as relevant today as it was then-just ask Kim Byung-Jin, executive chef at the Michelin-rated Gaon and Cho Gwi-Bun, a 13th-generation descendent of Jang Gye-Hyang.

Working alongside art director Adnan Kazi and illustrator Daniel Ido, we created a poetic introduction to this Great Big Story film.
The film follows the story of Kim Byung-Jin, chef at the Michelin star Gaon restaurant in Seoul, and how his inspiration comes from this 16th century recipe book that conceals all the traditional recipes and secrets of Korean cuisine.
The animation introduces the author, Jang Gye-Hyang, and her treasured book.
